Multi-topic message, all about the Mt. Shasta meet...

Knock on wood, I'm planning on getting an early launch Thursday
for the run to the Mountain. As usual, Thursday is also forecast to
be the peak day of a mini heat wave, with temps significantly above
a hundred in Sacramento, and climbing as we head North.
Therefore, we're attempting a departure time of 8 AM (for me, that's
practically the middle of the night). If things go well, we will hit
Bill and Cathy's in Dunnigan about 9 AM. This is the tie-in point
for bay area travelers, just above where the 505 ties into the 5.
Assuming we make our schedule, we'll be hanging out in Bill and
Cathy's parking lot 'til 9:30. If this fits your schedule please join us.
We make it a leisurely drive up, relatively slow at 65-70. Top down,
lots of sunscreen and water, with 2x40 watts cranked.
If you have any desire to contact me, starting tonight and for this
weekend ONLY I should be reachable at (916) 207-4734. Borrowed
phone, so this number is no good after Sunday :-). If you show up at
Dunnigan and I'm not there, feel free to call and I'll give you my current
location and ETA. If there's some place further up the road you want to
meet that fits this general time schedule, call me and we'll try to link up.

I'll have my FRS radios tuned into channel 3, no privacy code (so all
the FRS radios can play). If channel 3 is a disaster of chitchat I'll
switch to channel 11, no privacy code. So if you have FRS units
(Motorola Talkabout etc), bring them along and try channel 3 and/or 11.

Two years ago there was an impromptu 'no host' get together at
Say Cheese Pizza (I think that's the name), the pizza place / ice
cream parlor off E Lake Street. Those in attendance will recall that
we formed the tables into a big Datsun symbol :-)
We tried to repeat it last year, but turnout was poor. Let's try it
again, planned for early evening FRIDAY starting around 7 PM
with people hopefully randomly drifting in? The way I envision it,
you show up, order a pizza and start munching on what's already
on the table. By the time you're done munching, 'your' pizza is ready
and the next people that wander in repeat the process. Latecomers
get free pizza :-). Does this sound workable?
