Tom:
There's a drawing and some photos under Vinyl Work of how I did it at
www.azroc.org/bauman311.
I used a piece of 2X2 for the front of the shelf. The drawing shows the
package shelf from the side ( the part in red is the metal floor of the
shelf. I wrapped a section of vinyl long enough to cover the 2X2 plus enough
overhang to wrap over the lip and wall of the passenger compartment as
shown. It was long enough to go down to the top of the trans tunnel, but
since carpet covers this part, it could be shorter.
After that part was glued to the 2X2, I cut a chunk of vinyl bigger than the
fiberboard insert on the package shelf floor and placed the 2X2 with it's
forward-facing edge on front edge of the vinyl and glued and stapled the
floor vinyl to the wrapped 2X2.
I then pre-drilled the front edge of the fiberboard panel and used short
galvanized drywall screws to attach the 2X2 from the underside.
You can then pad and glue down the edges of the vinyl around the edges of
the fiberboard.
After putting the whole thing back in the car and tack gluing it down, you
can pull the excess vinyl up over the metal lip and down the inside wall for
a smooth look.
All the parts for my package shelf, except for the vinyl covering, I got at
Home Depot.

Subject: How is the front edge of the rear shelf cover attached?
I am removing the vinyl cover on the bottom of my rear shelf. It is all
loose except for the front edge with the vinyl pad. That will not move
and I don't want to tear it up. Are there mounting screws or ???
