Troy
I had this done late last year. Straightforward swap
(bolt off, bolt on) if you know what you are doing
generally at the front. (I did not so had lots of
help - meaning someone showed me how its done and I
assisted).
Couple of things to note:
- Consider replacing the lower ball joints with new
ones. I took the view I should while all was apart.
- The 1500 13" wheels will no longer fit. I replaced
them with 1600 14" wheels with lower profile tires
that give me the same diameter and hence keep the
speedo true.
- The swap means your wheel base becomes wider (look
at the specs for 1500 and 1600 cars). The above wheel
and tire combo just fits under the guards (I think my
tire width is 175). Anything wider or larger will
touch and require you to flare the guards as per 1600
or 2000 cars.
- You need to change the master cylinder.
I did not change anything else and it all works well.
Ideally though you would look at all the brake
components of a 1600 or a 2000 set up and replicate
the system in the 1500.

Subject: disc brake swap
Anybody ever swap a 1600 front disc brake setup
(spindle, rotor, caliper), onto a 1500? What type of
problems am I expected to run into? I'm not
interested in non-1600 component swaps due to
eligibility requirements.
Thanks, Troy
