Can't say anything about the Nissan motors, but our JTR style 280Z with its
2720 pound / 330HP/350cid(5.7L) Chevy V8 / T-5 5-speed is about the most fun
you can have with your clothes on...
and the "R" - our 66 1600 with a planned 2000 pound / 250HP / 231cid (3.8L)
Chevy V6 will have nearly the same HP/weight ratio. If you make the
suspension low and tight and plan the swap to keep the weight balance near
the same, it'll work just fine - but prepare to buy tires often if you have
a heavy foot!
Any added weight should be kept far back from the front wheels as possible,
and moving the battery to the back helps too.
The rear axle is going to get questionable at some HP number - Andrew could
tell you more about that. Ours is getting a narrowed Mustang GT LSD.
Gearing the whole package to take advantage of the extra torque also
requires some fine tuning.
