Since this also applies to roadsters with electronic dizzys, here goes. Many,
if not all electronic ignitions hate to be fired without a load on the
output. Pull the coil wire off and give the spark no where to go and you will
quite likely toast the module. No need to go into impedance mismatch and all
that stuff but pull the power to the ignition module rather than simply
pulling the plug wires.
