i did not pull my engine so i painted it while it was in the engine
compartment. i cleaned it as good as i could get it and then painted to ford
blue number 502. i like blue but the original datsun color was not available
and i did not want to spend the cash unless i was rebuilding it anyway. it
turned out nice and at a glance looks good. i also sanded and cleaned the
inside fender wells and sprayed them with gray primer. made it looks nice
and clean. i also painted the coil bracket the same color as the engine. it
contrasts nicely with the red msd coil. the over flow coolant tank and fan
shroud were painted red (a hot or danger type warning look). the valve cover
was painted silver and looked sharp although with all the work i have been
doing with the carbs and header it is scratched a little. i would like to
polish it eventually but have not the time, knowledge, or equipment (im
sure) yet. overall im happy with the ford color. its darker but still looks
nice. not bad for a cheap spruce up of the engine area. Keith's carbs make
the whole setup look great.
