'68 2000 - wheel stud size

A while back I grabbed some lug nuts off a '68 parts car.  My car has some
old after market mags that have sleeved lug nuts.  I just tried the parts
car lug nuts on my back hubs and they fit fine.  However, the front caliper
studs seem to be thicker (i.e. could not even start to thread them on).  Any
ideas guys?  Larry.
