Welllll, 67s and earlier cars didn't come from the factory like that. Every
nut and bolt on my car was SAE before I started adding some metric
accessories such as a later engine/tranny and the ancillaries.
As you said some mechanics or POs must have retapped them in their ignorance
or incompetence.
