Good Question...Why?
Speaking for myself. I am not concerned about storage space in my
trunk. My roadster will not be used for long trips or transporting
anything other than a spare tire,
a couple of road flares and some spare tools and emergency parts.I am
currently building a 1600 custom stroker project. I am a tad fussy
about the engine compartment. In my opinion, the less junk i.e. heater
hoses, etc that can be removed or placed elsewhere the better. Having
the battery in the trunk provides a cleaner, more spacious engine
compartment. I do agree. It is totally not necessary. But then again
if I was practical I would buy a Miata. Heaven knows a Miata would be
cheaper and a lot less hassel (BUT not nearly as much fun as figuring
how I can get that big ass battery in the trunk). Clearly, I do not
have a restorer, purist motiveation. How, does that song go..."I just
wanna to have some fun." AND have the flipping battery in the trunk.
