Kind of a mess, huh? This is how it happened. My engine had seized due to
a fallen valve seat. Everything other than that was okay. Took engine out.
Head was sent to a specialty shop referred to me by Greg Burrows. Block
sent to local, "highly recommended" shop. Pistons and cylinders looked
okay. 100,000 miles and still standard size. They honed that out and did
other machining. New rings, gaskets, seals, bearings, etc. Head got back,
ported and polished with new cam, valves, seats, seals, etc.
Local shop put engine back together. Everything looked okay except cam
timing seemed off one tooth. If you've followed my emails, you know what I
mean. Anyway, after the compression differences, they (local shop) came out
and pulled head to check for bent valves. They say everything looks okay
and I told them I'd post questions to list.
BTW, the shop that did the head work? They (through Greg Burrows) offered
to take the head back and do any labor that needs to be done for FREE!!
That is how proud he (head guy) is of his work, even though the problems
that I've had have absolutely nothing to do with him. That I found
absolutely amazing that another shop would offer to do the labor even though
it's not their mistake. Talk about pride in your work. And Greg Burrows
rules!!!
