OT Datsun 1000

A friend of mine has acquired a very clean, rust free, Datsun 1000 and is
considering restoring it.

Suspect this is a predecessor to the 1200 but I don't know the years  it
was built or much else about the car.

Any comments or information on the 1000 or links to a club?
