Hi list,
My name is Deena 39, Joe is 43 we've been together for 8 years. I'm a
Commercial Property Appraiser for the local Township. I have been doing this
for the last 11 years. Joe is a Mechanic and has been for the last 25 years.
We got our 69 1600 in July 2001 from my parents. The story goes: My mom is
a realtor she got the car as part of her commission for sell the neighbors
house (he passed away the car was not driven since 1980) The car sat on mom
and dads patio under a tarp for four years. My mom had high hopes that my
two brothers at the time 19 & 16 would restore the car for her. To no
avail, they lost interest and did more damage than good. My dad called me
one wednesday night and told me that he gave the Datsun away. I said in not
so many words "how dare you without asking me if I wanted the car, I told
you from day one that I wanted the car" dad then called be back about 3
hours later and told me that if I wanted the car I had to get it out of the
yard by monday. So thats the story how we got the Datsun. My parents in
turn told us that all the car was going to do was sit and rust in the
driveway and that we would never get it done. That made me all the more
determined to restore the car as beautifully as we could just to prove my
parents wrong. Eight months later we had the car complete. We showed the
car all summer and have 27 Trophies out of 31 shows. We received an invite
to participate in the World of Wheels car show held in downtown Chicago in
January. We are looking forward to that show.
If it wasn't for this list our car would have never made it back together.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU TO ONE AND ALL.
I love the looks we get when we're out joy riding and I love our car. Once
again thank you for all the help.
