My name is Tim Waltz, 38, divorced. I live with my beautiful and loving
girlfriend, Leisa, and our combined two children when they're not with their
"other parents" (Leisa is also divorced). I manage the internal printing
department for the Cherry Creek School District in the Denver metro area.
We're a fast-growing, well-respected school district. I've been in the
printing industry for 22 years, and because of it's close ties to desktop
computers, the industry has been in constant change and I still love it.
When most people ask, however, I usually say I make copies.
A navy brat, I lived in New York, Connecticut, Virginia, Wisconson, and
California before my dad retired in Minnesota. Went to school in Upstate
New York, landed my first job out of college in Northern Virginia, then got
my job in Colorado and have been here 13 years.
In high school, I began a restoration of a 53 chevy pickup that I got off my
great uncle's farm in Iowa. Lack of money and a way-too-rusted body made me
realize it was a bad project and I got out. Then did some minor
improvements on a 67 Olds cutlass that my brother let me have when he went
in the Air Force. It was a good learning experience, but I didn't love it,
so I bought a 1983 Toyota Corolla when I graduated from high school. Great
little car.
Saw my first roadster on a trip to Albuquerque, NM. A guy named Bill Turner
(anybody know if he's still a roadster guy?) had 3 or 4 of them at the time.
Lack of money (again) and lack of space to put one made me wait.
Saw an ad in the paper for one in August 2001. Bought it. Didn't know much
about them, definetely didn't know enough. I told Leisa it was an
expensive learning experience (luckily not that expensive). I've since
bought two others--all 67.5 1600's. I could make 2 good cars out of the 3.
Right now, I'm focusing on one.
Completely torn down, I have the frame getting welds touched up as we
speak--next off for beadblasting. (Don't think anybody acid dips in
Denver). The rebuild will start in the spring. I'm giving myself four
years total for the project. One down, three to go...
