Well, we FINALLY got the '64 1600 running and the carbs balanced, thanks in
large part to Keith and his excellent article he posted earlier about
balancing the little monsters. She runs well, Len even says she's fun to
drive (seat is too far back for me to reach the pedals; next project,
replacing the seats!)

We are facing a smoking problem now (the car's, not ours!) At idle everything
is fine, but upon accelleration it pours out a whitish/bluish smoke that has
an odd, kind of rubber smell. Oil level is fine. Temperature stays between
190-200 with a 180deg thermostat installed. The previous engine simply poured
oil out the tailpipe, so I'm sure there is residual oil left there. We
haven't drained the gas tank yet; it has gasoline that's a mix of 1 yr old
stuff and probably older.

We have a compressor, we have a hose that can fit into the spark plug hole.
How do we do a compression leak down test? What is the pressure we use?

Any ideas & input is as always greatly appreciated. We would never have
gotten THIS far with our first engine swap project if it weren't for all you
wonderful people :)
