Daniel, I have a cheapo floor jack that won't hold pressure (it gradually drops). I have taken it apart and found metal filings jammed in the seal, creating the pressure leak. It's not too hard to open it up, flush it out, and refill it. As mentioned, use hydraulic jack oil, which was pretty easy to find.
