Hello All,
First off I have something shamefull to admit. I have not
driven my perfectly fine working car for like 3 months....Thats like
the entire summer...We have too many sensible cars now and I just
never want to take it out to get beat on for no good reason..
So this weekend we decide to take it out..The batt is dead reading
8V between the terminals and the charger won't charge it. I have a
fancy-pants sears charger with a 'computer brain' that won't let you
charge up batt that are too far gone or if say you misconnect the leads
at 4am before leaving for shasta it will shut itself off.
I killed a optima yellow top batt...I think I have had it for
oh 3 years and was thinking that it would last a bit longer. Here's a
question-the optima is a gel cell deep cycle batt. My charger has a
setting for regular batt, gel cell, or deep cycle. Which cycle should I
set the charger on? I am afraid that I was charging the batt on the wrong
setting and that that contributed to its early demise.
