FWIW,
When I went down to see Andy run his roadster, I ran into several of my
old race buddies. My friend from Houston Performance (easily one of the
best Ford Motor shops in the country) spent a few minutes poking around my
car.
When he stood up he said: "You know it'd be darn easy to fit a small
block Ford in there." They know I've done motor swaps in the past, and
that I like radically fast cars.
Ever since that moment, the Tramp (AutoX prep'd 240Z that I bought from
the same guy) has been in the hot seat. The Ford motor would be
relatively inexpensive. Don't let an affordable 1600 roller hit my radar
screens, 'cause I've been swimming in this idea. His estimated weight
difference is < 50lbs, FWIW. They are regularly getting 350+ RWHP out of
those things naturally aspirated and extremely streetable tune. And, yes,
they want the project. Luckily, the Tramp consumes the garage space I'd
need and it doesn't hurt that I'm broke. But, I keep seeing '70 240s
going for handsome sums on Ebay. Maybe enough to finance the swap if I
added some pretty paint - ok, I'm rambling. Really time to go to bed.
