How far forward can the radiator on a 2000 be moved before it starts to
contact the hood or drag link?

I seem to recall someone saying 3/4". Is this correct? I'm trying to fit a
big 14" electric fan and am having clearance problems with the water pump
shaft. I'm going to cut the end off the shaft. Can the pressed on part of
the shaft be cut down? I was thinking about cutting the smaller diameter
portion off and then tack welding the larger part to the shaft. The weld
could always be ground down for pump rebuild if needed.

I'm in the process of rebuilding a motor after it spun a bearing at the
autocross. The car got pretty hot. I am going to add an auxiliary radiator
in front of the regular one. I will also install my 7 quart oil pan and an
oil cooler. I purchased a Ford sandwich plate oil cooler adaptor. It screws
onto the oil filter mount in place of the oil filter. The oil filter attaches
to the sandwich plate. They are pretty standard issue on most heavy duty Ford
trucks. I got mine at Summitracing.com.

I took my block to Metal Rehab and it looks cleaner than new. I've had blocks
vatted at the machine shop before. When they come back they are still pretty
filthy with just the big clumps knocked off. The Metal Rehab block is so
clean and pretty that I hate to paint it. I wonder if there is a clearcoat
that can be used for engine paint?

Later,

Andy Cost
