Dearest List,
About 2 weeks ago, I swapped out the 180 thermostat for a 160.
It made quite a difference in my running temps. In summer, my
67.5 1600 would often run around 200 degrees, but with this swap,
it's around 180. I'm not sure how accurate the temp guage really
is, but I was aiming for 190, which is pointing straight down on the
67.5 guage. So, it's actually running a little cooler than that.
In the past few years I've done the head gasket, had the radiator
cleaned (but not re-cored), replaced all of the hoses, made sure
the little metal air flow flange was there, etc, etc. So, I was considering
re-coring the radiator, but seems like the 160 t-stat really helped.
Later...Robert
