It is standard practice in the exhaust industry to NOT weld the heck out of
everything. This make for ease of fitting & (especially in the wetter, more
rustprone climates) easier to replace individual parts. One of the "signs" of
a crappy exhaust job is plenty -o -chunks all welded together. A good system
will have as FEW individual pieces as absolutely necessary, and proper
clamping at the joints.
