Yeah... you cn't judge a book by its cover, here's a good story for ya....

Check this car out www.avelate.com Seen the cars in person - absolute
works of art (the pics on the webiste do no justice - quite a compliment
coming from me, as I really hate all that the modern corvette stands for )
Looks like a real class act eh ? WRONG. My best buddy back up in WA state
was working for this outfit about a year ago. The shop was taking in rod
projects left & right to fund this thing, BUT, duh, oops, forgot to do the
work on all the other cars that were pd for. Cars have been there 2yr+. and
not touched. Matt ended up being owed about $15 K in back wages ( he fig he'd
stick it out to try to get his $$ - they pd him little bits at a time, but
they never caught him up) . They've taken deposits on these, but failed to
mention to the owners that they haven't even engineered a way to open up the
hood properly !!! Nifty eh ?

Knew another shop - in Puyallup - played major hell getting the '68 cutlass
out of there. The owner pissed off one too many bikers (major portion of his
clientele) and just up & disappeared one day. They ransacked everything,
stuff was missing, and we all had to explain to the cops that was OUR car !.
Wonder whatever happened to Bob.... he was quite the artist.... beautiful
murals/ free-hand airbrush work.

That, IMHO is really the problem w/ places like that... either artist or
businessman, too complicated to be both
