copper spray head gasket Q

Pulled the head off my car again, after being back on for only a week, due 
to valve problems.  I put the copper spray on both sides of the gasket last 
time, and now there is a pretty copper patina on the top of the engine 
block.  I've scraped off all the gasket material that got stuck, but do I 
need to remove this copper coating, or can I leave it on the engine?
