wheel spacer question

I have found a set of 14x6 panasport for sale but they have a +38mm offset.  
Can I use a wheel spacer to compensate for the offset?  Also, what should I 
watch out for?  Sway bar rubbing, fender rubbing etc., or is it just easy 
enough to put the sapcer and wheels on and enjoy the new look?
