Michael,
Your brake light switch is probably OK. There is/was a rubber pad on the
brake pedal on a bracket that opened the switch when the pedal was in the
up position. When the rubber thing falls out or gets a hole in it the
lights stay on. Quickest solution is to bend the bracket so that the part
around the hole contacts the switch plunger and opens the switch.
