Pat,
You're thinking of modern "you don't have to adjust" slaves. The Roadsters
need to be adjusted manually. Take off the spring and see how much play
there is in the clutch fork. I adjust mine with 1/8" of free play.
The bushings in the pedal also wear out and there is play there too I bet.
