Now that the dust has settled..........
I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since RA. You plan and anticipate
for months and poof!, it's over in a matter of 48 hours.
For many of us our trip to RA was just a short adventure, for others
a Big adventure (with repairs) but, for the Solvang gang, a
pilgrimage. (iron-butts abound!, from coast to coast)
Hopefully most of us still have that warm, happy memories
of our weekend. I will remember each time I look at our special
Walter Mitty / RA / SEROC t-shirts. From the ear to ear grin and a
thumbs up of a young public utility truck driver while traversing
Atlanta traffic to the "I used to own one of those, looks great" from
a Z3 driver, 2 lanes away on a Georgia side street.
Meeting new people, renewing friendships and talking about the
nuances of driving, restoring and repairing our fantastic little
cars. Our great THANKS to Pam for making and making and making and
mailing roadster cookies all over the United States. Almost from sea
to shining sea (there's a song in there somewhere).
It sure was gratifying to have a record number of cars for us, 12!
from all over the southeast. Many new to RA.
The trip home, (actually to and fro) alone this time,
allowed me to reflect on the weekend and the fine members of our
little band. It still causes me to smile while I remember seeing the
faces of grinning children (sometimes waving) pressed to the glass of
their airconditioned autos staring at the topless red roadster as
they passed by. Thanks to all who help make this a super weekend and
to all, a Good Day!
