I have been thinking about this a bit lately. Keep in mind that I am somewhat of a purist and don't care to do an engine swap or wild change myself. I have been thinking about a modern Fairlady. It would have a late engine (SR20 or KA24 sounds fine - not the big issue) The interior would be leather with improved stereo and a more contoured dash/console area. Some seats like the Miata seats with the speakers would be good. A chrome dual hump roll bar with a fiberglass speedster type cover that covered the rear area and comes up to the roll bars. the body would have the more radical mods. The front end would be more rounded to be a little more aerodynamic. Replace the sealed beams and headlight scoops with some of the modern moulded lights. change the side markers to flush mount markers. Integrate the bumpers with the body front and rear (chrome inserts to retain the flavor though) In the rear, the taillights would be similar to the current Altima taillights and the rear end smoothed to be more aero. The "fins" would become less prominent (more like character lines). Hood and trunklid ridges would be smaller and less prominent. Fenders would have a mild flaring - not lip flares, but the entire fender would swell out - like some of the SCCA racers have. Nice alloys of course - but not the crazy sizes - 15x7 would be fine. Third brake lights incorporated into the speedster rear deck - behind each passenger. the speedster deck would open to let the top be raised and then go back down (like the 63 - 67 corvette idea. Grill would be "laid back" more and the fron end brought to more of a pointed center rather than the curved front. gas cap would be an aircraft type cover on the r/h rear fender. license plate would be frenched with a glass cover. emblems and side chrome strips would still be there but would be the thin stick on type stuff - no holes and pins to cause issues. The name FairLady would be revived with the model based on the engine size (ie. KA24 - FairLady 2400) What do you think?
