I tried to post a response yesterday to the thread about driving a car with no
hood, gas tank, etc... but it kept bouncing back.
I got my 23x9.5x15 Hoosier racing slicks mounted on the centerline rims. I
had to install longer studs and wheel spacers. I wanted to do a test drive to
see if anything was going to rub. I made it about 2 miles from home on a
small rural road when Tetanus ran out of gas. Important note: If you have a
2 gallon fuel cell always top off before leaving the house. I had to walk
home and get the gas can. When I returned to the car the Krum policeman was
behind my car with his lights on. He was looking it over pretty closely. The
car has no plates, registration, insurance, inspection, bumpers, mirrors,
horn, headlights, taillights, turn signals, has a very loud exhaust, and the
slick tires say "Not for Highway Use" cast in the sidewalls in big letters.
He said he was concerned that someone might hit the car where it was parked.
I filled it with gas, started it up, and told the nice policeman thanks for
the concern as I drove off. He waved goodby and I went on my merry way. I
love living in a one horse (or policeman) town.
