I installed my rollbar at a slight angle which allows the seat to recline a
bit. I did this by moving the main hoop attachment plates as far rearward
as possible. I cut the lip on the front edge of the package shelf to give
an extra inch of rearward movement. I had to cut and re-weld the attachment
plates so that the angles were right. The angle of the rollbar can be seen
in some of my picturetrail photos. It probably isn't the safest way to
mount the rollbar, but it still should be pleanty strong. I have since
replaced my CRX seats with a fiberglass racing seat that bolts directly to
the floor. With no cushion it lowers me about 4" in the car. I now look
through the windshield and my helmet is below the rollbar. The CRX seats
were much more comfy, but I only have to suffer for 1 minute at a time on
the autocross course. I'm going to replace the fiberglass seat with an ABS
one that www.summitracing.com sells. That is if I can get my wife to give
me any more money to spend on that rusty old car.
