Not a bad point. I'm sure we've all been fooled before. I thought I'd run
out of fuel in my Bugeye once. Walked 2-3 miles to get my gas can and
return with more fuel. Turns out the points had closed up. The symptoms
sure seemed like fuel starvation. It was stupid on my part - I made an
assumption instead of a diagnosis.
For what it's worth, my 2000 has never seemed very sensitive to point gap.
My 240Z on the other hand was extremely sensitive.

I think my idea is worth a first try as it
doesn't cost anything. I also want to emphacize that this has worked
for me on numerous occassions, not just on the Solvang trip, so I don't
think it is coincidence
