Hey Gary C,
you asked about gear oils, and the manual said 140W, and there was a RedLine
answer, and I'm a little late but 'beware'. Read the Red Line site tech
info, because some of those RL synthetics are incompatible with elderly
synchro materials. You want MTL, (thanks for the info, Victor and Craig
Carter) and there is one other but I can't remember its' name. I bought
MT90 and then found it was only to be used in my diff. (oh, and the RedLine
Oil website distributors list is a pile of @#$%. I think I got mine at
Balboa Auto Parts on the corner of Devonshire/Balboa)
Also, since my trans seals won't hold synthetic, (too thin) I thought I'd be
real clever and put in 140W, and now when I drive the first 2 miles is
second gear synchro grind zone, until the oil heat/thins up. Now I gotta
drain and go back to 75-90W. You don't wanna know what your forearms feel
like after pumping 4.6 pints of 140W thru a tube. Fergus O, 69 2000,
