Chris,
You need to replace the seat webbing. I told of the story
of sitting on the floor in my '68 2000, and catching the
seat on fire! Thankfully the '69 & '70 versions moved
the muffler back to prevent the floor from getting too
hot. The relocated muffler, and good webbing is recommended!
Here in the USA I found Pirelli Webbing. Only problem was
I had to buy it in a 100' roll. (I sold of the extra
to fellow club members a few years back).
Same type of seat construction is used in small aircraft,
so that might be another source for it.
