Boy oh boy did we have a windstorm pass through here today. It went on for
about 2 hours or so and got pretty bad. Two *huge* trees in neighbors' yards
went down. One smashed into our garage and shop, the other took out two of our
fences in the back yard. Another smaller tree in another neighbor's yard took
out a section of the only remaining fence :-( When the first big tree went I had
my dogs out for a quick potty break and two of them were back behind the shop
where the tree landed. Luckily they were all right, though one of the did get
hit by some debris and got the scare of his life. A number of other folks in
the area also had trees come down. I watched as one fell right on a car and
took out part of a carport too. As bad as it was for us, the neighbor who
lived between us and one of the trees that hit us, had it land on their house!
Power and phones were down for about 45 mins too. Well, the insurance adjusters
will be busy around here tomorrow. Sure glad I didn't have a Roadster project
or my 510 Trans Am car in the garage!
Turns out this was the worst windstorm in this area in 30 years or so. Wind
gusts hit 95 mph at the coast (1 hr away) and 62 mph here in town. Sustained
winds in town of 50+ mph. It was really something.
