I also have "period" non-original lights on my car which I'm more than
happy with. They are only there for looks anyway.
Yes, I only use BP Corse Plus. I know that a lot of roadster owners
also use Pennzoil (not sure which one).
The panel gap was originally sealed with lead. It is hard to improve on
it because of its flexibility. You also need paint that can cope with a
bit of body flex. Mine was filled with good old bondo/nicky and my
paint is old fashioned acrylic, no fancy enamels or 2-packs. After 14
years the sill join is about the only one that hasn't opened up.
I know of a few owners who decided not to cover the join. Not original
but the choice is yours.
