I have been reading and following the procedure to the remove the engine
from the car and they talk about removing the driveshaft entirely
(disconnecting it from both the differential and gearbox). What is the
reasoning behind removing it completely? Is it merely a clearance issue
where the engine and transmission might swing back and hit it? Same goes
for the exhaust pipe. If the engine and transmission does have a tendency
to swing back, would it be prudent to put some type of protection such as
padding or blankets to protect the engine firewall and windshield? This is
my first engine pull and I want to make sure I don't royally screw
something up.
Thanks
John
