For all:
Maybe the list talked about this when it happened, but
I turned on SpeedVision Friday night, and the SCCA
G-Production Nationals were on from Mid Ohio.
Must have been last fall, leaves were still green.
In any event, a roadster stormed from 29th to
8th place, number 42, driven by a guy named
Wessel. A 510 broke out of the pack during the last few
laps and pulled a move on the nr 1 and 2 guys
who were busy diceing with each other, and
won the race. From what I understand, first
time Nissan has won G-prod in a long time.
The 510 was nr 30, driven by Jeff Winters.
I guess it was raining at the start, and
the roadster and 510 teams chose intermediate
tires, which helped with their strong gains after the
rains quit.
Speaking of tires, I have a set of 14X6 period 4 spoke
mags for my roadster and am wondering what sort of
tire list members might recommend for street legal,
but sticky autocrosser use. Wear and wet weather
performance are not important. I can always put the
original steel rims and touring tires on for long road
trips. I figure 195X55X14 would be about max for these
rims and stock fenders. I would go with straight AutoX
tires, but for class considerations at my local
gatherings with Tidewater Sports Car Club. Also,
AutoX tires would mean a roll bar would be required...
The whole thing then quickly cascades, like most things involving
going faster, into much more money and time than
I have!
The SCCA race was
Very motivational!!
