gear shift removal

Help.

I am taking the engine out of my 68 2000 and need to know how to remove the
gear shift.   The instructions I have say to remove "the nut securing the
shifting lever from the gearbox shift arm...:  Unfortunately there is no
nut in sight unless I am really missing something or the PO did something
strange.
