The idea I've currently been toying with to convert my Fairlady over to
Timing belts might be a little drastic....An engine swap.

I'll bet this is one not many people have thought of. We all have heard that
Volvo brakes work well on the Roadsters, but how about a Volvo engine?
Working for Volvo I encounter alot of technicians who have modified their
old Volvos. A thought popped into my head. What about an 1980's era turbo
motor? I did some research and found out these motors have quite a bit of
potential. The specific motor I am looking at is the B23FT, a 2.3 4 cyl.
turbo that came in the 760. It was rated at 157hp and 184 lb-ft of torque
bone stock. Through various mods they are capable of over 350hp. I haven't
compared dimensions to see if it's feasible or not, but just looking the
configuration it seems possible. The parts certainly seem more readily
available. I found one website describing what seems to be a well
thought-out upgrade and very detailed description of the motor. It's at:

http://www.linkline.com/personal/dbarton/B23FT.html

Don't worry, I won't persue this option if it means destroying my ability to
eventually return my Fairlady to its original condition. If anyone has tried
this, or researched it, please let me know.

Thanks
