I wasn't too fond of the Miata's either until I drove one.  It is a true 
roadster, but has some creature comforts, such as legroom. Anyone over 5'8" 
tall would agree that the seats could be a little farther back in an 
unmodified roadster.  The Datsun is an absolute blast to drive, and is a real 
head-turner regardless of condition. I have both, and enjoy both.
