Chevy 396 connecting rod bolts.
Machine shop has to machine the connecting rods to get
them to fit.
The original connecting rod bolts were designed to
"stretch to yield" on the U20. You can get away reusing
them a few times, but really not meant for multiple
uses.
For a race motor, you want to CHANGE to connecting
rod bolts every tear down. For a street engine that
rarely sees 6,000 rpm... reuse is probably OK.
I used to make it a point to call every Datsun Dealer
when I traveled and ask for a 12109-25500. It has been
ten years, but I still remember that part number!
