Ross,
Nissan Comp offered several different size rear pistons: 11/16, 3/4 & 13/16.
It was more about brake balancing than stopping ability, although I am sure
with a poorly balanced brake system stopping distances will be longer.
Make sure the brakes are properly adjusted and that there's no oil on the
shoes.
