It had to be done.
We did a de-compression run to the top of Ortega Highway today. Jon
Frampton and his daughter Allie, Pam and I took a jaunt down PCH to Dana
Point for lunch, then up Ortega highway to the summit. What a day! Cool
and crisp, a little overcast, but not cool enough to need the heater,
which was a good thing, since mine is not connected! We cruised through
Laguna Beach with sunny skies chasing us up the coast and finally
through the clouds at the top of Ortega, overlooking Lake Elsinore. We
gawked at the scenery for awhile and drew a crowd of curious Harley
riders who came over to talk roadsters with us. It was fun.
Finally, we headed back down the hill and stopped at a shop that sells
all sorts of jerky...beef, turkey, ostrich...and had to buy a bag or two
for the ride home. Pam took the wheel for the return trip. I am happy to
report that she is really getting the hang of this roadster driving
thing! I did have to remind her that Jon's car wears Pirellis and a comp
suspension, so the fact that he could go faster was not a reflection on
her driving.
Unlike a similar trip we made earlier this year, nothing fell off my
car--or Jon's for that matter! A good time was had by all and a promise
made to keep trying to make as many weekend outings as possible before
the yuck weather hits. Posted a few pics at the link below.
Enjoy.
