Marc,
Down at the transmission: I like about 1/8" of play.
Remove the spring, and wiggle the shift fork. Remember
as the disc wears there will be LESS clearance, so if
you are a bit absent minded and don't check that often
maybe increase that clearance a little. Good time to
check: every time you change your oil. Easy to do when
you are in a habit, and better than burning out a clutch.
At the pedal, there should be no need to mess with other
than messing with shims when the clutch master cylinder
is replaced. Sigh, I "popped off" the clutch return
spring (boy was that stiff), and when I went to put it
back in place had it slip... the end of the spring made
it right through my thumb like a fish hook. I was not
a happy camper. OUCH!
