Hi all,
I just thought I'd drop a note to the list to say that I finally "get it" -
I now understand why you all are so hooked on these cars...! I have had a
"66 1600 for about 3 months that I bought in order to do a frame-off
restoration this winter, and until a couple of days ago, I had not been able
to drive it due to a worn brake master cylinder (and other projects taking
priority). Well, I finally got a new one from Ross (Thanks, Ross!) and got
it installed, thinking I would drive it for a bit to see how the car
performed etc. Hooweeeee! What a rush! I own a toyota Supra with over 300 hp
at the wheels, and the roadster, while slower, is waaaay more fun! That car
corners on rails, even with pathetically worn tires...! I now have taken to
cruising (racing?) around the city every chance I get - and the weather here
(Victoria, BC) has been cooperating nicely.
At any rate, I do have a couple of questions...
1) My steering box has a ton of play in it, and I was wondering what the
best course of action was - rebuild existing/install late model/replace with
rack & pinion from some other car (anyone done this?).
2) The previous owner has removed the Ammeter and connected the two wires -
will this have any adverse effect on any of the car's systems?
Thanks for reading, and happy roadstering!
