I have had my trans apart and they are not that bad to fix. ( I could help

Its either a bad shift fork, slider or gear (not the teeth, but the engaging
ring).
Most likely its the fork, either loose, slipped or bent/worn.
You could have good parts is you old trans that could be swapped.
Is this a stock trans or close ratio? The fork and slider should be the
same for both, the gear may not be the same.
