Sorry, I can't buy this argument.
There is no way that this event was perpetrated by a loosely based group of
fanatics. They had identity papers, were well coordinated and had trained
pilots to fly the planes. There is no way that this could have been
accomplished wihtout the aid or at least the blessing of a foreign power.
More people died yesterday than died on the beaches of Normandy. This is an
act of war. Congress should declare war on all terrorist groups regardless
of what their political motivations are. Any country that allows them to
exist within their borders is by definition a collabarator and they will
then pay the price in the lives of their civilians.
It is not an easy matter and I do not enjoy the arbitrary taking of life,
but this is my country. I served in uniform and would gladly lay down my
life for it again. I am a civilian now but I do know that as a citizen I
share the responsibilty of the decisions of my government.
War is ugly, but I cannot tolerate the murder of my country's citizens. We
cannot allow terrorist acts against our country. If that means that other
civilians have to pay the price for their governments actions (as ours
have), then so be it.

And we have not been attacked by a foreign country. We were justified
and correct in declaring war against Japan because they attacked us.
That was a war with a known enemy.
We have not been attacked by a foreign country. We have not been
attacked by a religion. We have been attacked by a group of at least
30-50 terrorists. Is an Afghani behind it? Maybe. Maybe not. When
the Oklahoma City bombing happened everyone 'knew' it was Bin Laden
behind that one too. Oops.
We need to know who to counter against before we blame one third of the
world's population.
How many Afghanis did you see on TV stomping on our flags? All of
them? Or just the ones CNN showed you? Anyone else here old enough to
remember the anti-war rallies of the 60's, where no one did anything
until the TV camera crews had everything set up?
You want to make a difference? Give blood, don't take it.
Be angry. Be mad. Be wary. But be patient. If you are a republican
back your president and wait for him to resolve the situation. If you
are not, wait for Powell and Cheney to.
