My personal opinion, of course:

If Nissan didn't have a reason for this spring, they would have left it off.
I can think of several bad things that can happen without the spring,
including brake lockup. MY OPINION: don't start re-engineering
the brake system unless you really know what ALL the pieces do.
I'm not meaning to 'attack' anyone here. I just don't want to see anyone
hurt or killed because of a 'best guess' at how to fix an alleged problem.
