I've tried to submit this about five times over the past couple of weeks
and I've never seen it come through. As my financial situation DOES
continue to worsen with each passing day, I thought I would give it one
last shot to find a loving home for my treasured Roadster.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As much as I even hate to think about it, if my finances continue to
worsen I may have to put my cherished Roadster up for sale. Help me out
in setting what it should be worth. I'll do my best at describing it in
an honest fashion.
69 2000 Roadster - 85K original miles.
White with Red Interior. Black rollbar.
SU Carbs
Stock Wheels, could probably use new tires pretty darn soon (current tires
are Pirelli)
KYB shocks all around, new 23mm sway bar still in box.
Converted GM one wire 66amp alternator - stock location.
Soft top frame in good condition, but bow needs repair. Soft Top usable
but should be replaced. Toneau and top cover are excellent.
Condition:
This car is basically an excellent example of a completely stock
unrestored car and runs very well. I have had a few minor electrical
issues recently (I think I have a loose connection somewhere), but other
than a water pump failure 5 years ago (brand new Nissan pump installed and
fan converted to a flex fan), and a new starter about two years ago, this
car has been pretty trouble free. I've owned it since the summer of 1992,
and it has been garaged for over at least the past dozen years (I know the
previous three owners). I had the brakes gone through two years ago by a
reputable shop, including new calipers. The paint is in good condition,
though it is definitely not showroom. A few minor scratches and a couple
dings here and there, with some rust pimples forming near the door on the
passenger side fender. The chrome is complete and in good condition. The
interior is complete and pretty spotless, no rust anywhere. Door panels
are not original, but are in excellent condition, and I have Fairlady
authentic replacements still in the box. All instrumention is original
and works perfectly. The transmission seems to be in good shape, although
I get an occaisional grind shifting into second. The upper A-arm bushings
were replaced a year ago (same reputable shop), but the rest of the front
end could probably use some work. This is a very good condition car that
doesn't really need ANYTHING, but COULD use a new soft top, new tires, and
the rest of the front end gone through. Three P.O.'s ago was owned by a
Nissan mechanic who rescued it from a woman who had frozen the motor. He
tore it down, balanced and blueprinted it, and rebuilt the carbs at that
time (at approximately 50K miles).
I really would hate to part with this car because I love to drive
it and would like to continue to improve and maintain it. If I can't get
at least $5,000 for it, and I would rather shoot for around $6,500, I will
start giving blood to raise money to make ends meet. I'm not really
looking for buyers (that's starting to change unfortunately), but just
want to gauge what I might be able to get for it if I get desperate.
Thanks. Email me directly and I can send you some crude digital photos if
you are interested. Mike Poorboy ("donated" drivers side door), Daniel
Beatty, and others have seen this car at various NOWROC functions and the
Blue Lake Datsun meet and can tell you what they think of it.
