A slipping gear would cause you to have 5th gear neutral. It's not a nut but
a 2 piece press fitted 5th gear. That's what gets welded.
The main shaft nuts can work loose which could cause that problem but I'm
just guessing. I remember a racer at the Glen having that problem and Dick
Tillinger ripped apart the tranny and discovered its cause but I don't
remember what it was :(
