Well, I finally put an electronic ignition in the stroker. I used the XR3000
from Crane. I was thinking along the
lines Fred Katman does for the longest time-points is better. I had tried a
Petronix unit and really did not care
for it. I had used an XR700 in my Z for years until it suddenly died leaving me
stranded. I did end up putting
one back in the Z with no problems so far. I remember Datsun Mike talking about
the XR3000 so I read up
on it and ordered one last week. Piece of cake to install, completely removed
the resistor and put a Blaster2
coil in for added spark Crane recommends their P591 E-Core performance coil but
I had the Blaster lying
around. She starts right up and runs as smooth as it did with the points.
Drives just as smooth too. I did put
all the parts I removed in the XR3000 box just in case. I will keep the box in
the trunk for easy access. I hate
it when a car won't start especially when you have electronic ignition.
